40 To Go: Beginnings – EBook

Shifting from Amazon this time around, 40 To Go will be released as a regular series in EBook format, similar to Scratch. The advantages here are the embedding qualities found in making an ePub are a whole lot smoother and acceptable. Would have stuck with Amazon/Kindle but the Kindle Fire isn’t ready right now.

So, lets see how we fair with Barnes and Noble and their Nook.

40 To Go: Beginnings officially starts the series and, technically, can be called a pilot. Below is a sample of a scene of audio from the … the … what the hell is this? Not a comic book. Not really a motion comic or a graphic motion comic.

Well, that’s why I came up with Emotionry.com (E-Motion) … kind of a twist on Ebooks and ‘motion’ and ‘emotions’, which is what I strive to touch in readers. Gosh I’m either corny or ingenious. THAT will be discovered years from now. Right now, people think I’m crazy.

I just can’t understand why nobody can see the plentiful value out of multi-media eBooks? Meanwhile I’m getting blank stares as if I’m talking in f’n Russian. I just don’t get it.

Well, if that cooks their perspective, then this plan I have for placing ‘banner ads’ in this eBook will really get them going. The idea is, since the failure of Kickstarter, somebody has to pay! So, instead of a free regular online series … 40 To Go gets a $1.99 price tag slapped on it, people pay for banner ads and a page or two of ad space and suddenly I’m making a profit from whence there was none.

Amazon KDP Select and the Rise of Butta’

Amazon has this program called KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) where you basically refuse to publish your book anywhere else but for Amazon Kindle for 90 days. During that time, your book can be purchased or loaned in this library thing. Either way, you get paid. They also allow you to give away your book for free as a promotion for a few days.

I decided over the weekend to give it a try and post Butta’ for free for ONE DAY only. When I woke up this morning, 150 copies of Butta‘ were downloaded. When I refreshed the screen about five minutes later, 178 copies. I was like … damn! Never that plentiful when there was a price on it (Lol). Not that rapid either.

But what this is doing is growing the fan base. Hopefully if people like the story they’ll buy the sequel and other novels. This right here is a beautifully rapid expansion of people getting to know ‘me’ within 24 hours because it goes back to .99 cents tomorrow.

This is what it says at the bottom of the Amazon page as of 10:56am 1/30/2012:

(For Butt’a) – Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #2,577 Free in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Free in Kindle Store)

Not bad when I remember back in 2007, the same book was ranked, I don’t know … 28,000 something. LOL. Yeah, I know it’s free and based on ‘anybody taking a free thing’, but the underlying resource is new eyes. If this was a film, it’s ‘asses to seats’. Get the audience, keep the audience … bring out new things and keep the ball rolling. It’s not taking much of a hit at all and I really hope the fan base expands.

Latest count by the time I’m done writing this journal entry: 195 downloads and climbing.

Oh yeah … I’m happy.
